Went for a bike ride today along William Hovell Drive, Clunies-Ross and back through University of Canberra and Belconnen.

F the first time this Spring:

Heard Noisy Friarbird in Hawker along Belconnen Way

Desultory swooping by Magpie on William Hovell just after leaving Kingsford-Smith Drive

Yellow-faced Honey eaters all over the place

Comprehensively swooped by highly educated Magpie on Clunies-Ross near CSIRO Entomology (struck on helmet four times! Never been actually hit before – helmet works)

Black-faced Cuckoo Shrike on Bruce Ridge and

Olive-backed Oriole in UC.

This website provides some interesting info on magpie related injuries:

Cheers
