The Draft Management Plan for Jerrabomberra Wetlands did make provision for a cycle path through the wetlands.

But the Plan is now hopelessly out of date. Since it was issued, the ACT Government has announced that it plans to put 9000 people in the area just South of the wetlands.

If all these people have easy access to the Wetlands it will soon get trashed. The only hope of saving the Wetlands is to close of access from the South-West (off Newcastle St). This means that any cycle path must go around the Wetlands (to the South and East) rather than through it. The only access to the Wetlands should be from the car park off Dairy Rd.

As well as blocking access from Newcastle St there will need to be a buffer zone between the new development and the Wetlands, as Chris has stated..
