Hello everyone,
We spent an enjoyable Sunday afternoon at Tidbinbilla
walking the 1 hr Birrigai Time Trial track.
We had barely wandered 50 metres in from the visitor centre
car park when we spotted a female RED –CAPPED ROBIN among the 30-40 FLAME
ROBINS which were spread over the fields. There was also a pair of SCARLET
ROBINS present nearby. The Red-capped Robin seemed to be staying close to the
clumps of wattle near the dam. The bird had a small but obvious patch of red on
its forehead. There were also a number of WELCOME SWALLOWS present.
We counted some 22 EMUS all up among the roos and a
Red-necked Wallaby and Wombat. The wombat we came across by the aboriginal rock
shelter.
Other birds included GREY BUTCHERBIRD, GREY SHRIKE-THRUSH,
AUSTRALASIAN PIPIT, YELLOW-RUMPED THORNBILL and a WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE soaring
over Mt Eliza.
Cheers
