The Australian-American War Memorial, seen from Mount Pleasant, in the Duntroon precinct.  The US eagle emblem, in fact a sea-eagle, faces south in the manner of generals of the Union in Washington DC’s public places, symbolising the alliance with the Commonwealth against Victoria and Tasmania.  Australia’s larrikin counterpart, the Wedgie, is less likely to be seen in the area these days than the resident pair of Little Eagles.
