In its submission to the draft discussion paper on a new management plan for
Tidbinbilla, COG did not support re-introduction of fees for ACT residents.
If fees are re-introduced, they should go back into reserve management,
improving the walking trails, interpretation etc, not just go into ACT Gov
revenue. Tidbinbilla has lost ranger positions in recent years, and some
walking trails closed after the 2003 fires are still not rehabilitated. I
am advised that more than $300,000 pa has been paid to Conservation
Volunteers Aust to manage the volunteer program.
My personal view is that there should not be fees for locals, that the reserve should be made accessible to all. I dont go to Tidbinbilla as I prefer other places to bird where it does not cost me $10 or whatever to get in. cheers Jenny |
