Thank you Matthew.  The basic issue, creating more problems every year, is that the ACT government is pursuing a policy of deliberately increasing the population of Canberra, with inevitable consequences for road construction, new residential areas, water supply, mega-malls, business parks etc.  Where can I find an environmental impact statement on the implications of that policy, with the opportunity to comment on it?

I would like to recommend to subscribers of this list to have look at the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Majura Parkway, which is now open for public comment:

I encourage you to have your say, so that government can consider your views.  I'm not encouraging a public discussion here on the merits or otherwise of the proposal, just promoting awareness of an issue that will have an impact on bird habitat.
