We did our regular COG Woodland surveys on Mt Majura this week. Many of the sites were particularly disappointing. In sites where we have normally seen numbers of Buff Rumped Thornbills, Yellow rumps, Superb Fairy Wrens and Speckled Warblers there was nothing. The noticeable absence of small birds was quite marked in all 9 sites. Still the same numbers of larger birds although in one site we counted 7 Common Bronzewings, which was unusual. In one site we recorded no birds at all within the 50 metre circle.
