Alberta,

Can I assume you mean a Grey Butcherbird?

I believe you are in Monash - a Pied Butcherbird is a rare event in the ACT, even in the northern woodland areas where most of the relatively few records come from. A Grey Butcherbird would also fit in with the current/recent spate of sightings/hearings of this species in Canberra over the last few weeks. I'm in Kambah and have had Greys on and off for the past two weeks.

Hi all,
There was a Pied Butcherbird in my street this morning at about 11am.  It annoyed the resident Starlings. Haven't had one that I know of since last year.

Alberta Hayes, Monash.
