I have heard on the grapevine that Birds Australia is proposing significant focus/content changes to their magazine for members - Wingspan - and that the editors (Penny Olsen and Sophie Knezic) have resigned as a consequence (in protest?).    I understand BA  is proposing to make the magazine more 'in house', with more promotion of Birds Australia, and that they "dont want an award winning magazine".   Its not a matter of cost/money I understand.

Personally, I think the content of Wingspan is fantastic, the articles have so much of interest to birdwatchers, and it also serves as a great promotional tool for BA.

In principle, I am not against change, it can be beneficial.  But I am wondering why major changes are proposed, without consulting with Birds Australia membership, readers of Wingspan etc.

If you love your Wingspan as I do, maybe its a good idea to let Birds Australia know your views!!
cheers
Jenny
