I was taking an English visitor around to see the birds of the mountains today and we visited these two parts of the Brindabellas.  The most astonishing bit was the Mount Franklin Road.  We saw at least 10 Spotted Quail-thrush, in 5 pairs, between Bulls Head and the Southern end of Chalet Rd.  Also in the Chalet Rd area at least 5 Superb Lyrebirds were sighted (others heard) - including two that casually strolled down the road in front of us.

Warks Road featured at least 5 Eastern Yellow Robins and 2 Crested shrike-tits and several Flame Robnis - finally scoring a male just as we were leaving.  I was most surprised to see how dry the dam at Urriarra Hoemstead is not, but my guest assurred me it has far more water than Kelly's Swamp.
