I think that pond is a gross polutant trap for keeping plastic bags and
bottles from being washed into the lake and nests in there run the risk of
being swept away in the next downpour. City Rangers have in the past
removed swans' nests where children are likely to stray or venture too close
and get injured by protective parents. If anyone is interested in the fate
of any nest suspected of having been removed where it is unlikely that
children may have access to them I suggest you ring Canberra Connect and
they'll put you through to the appropriate person.
