Hi!
When  looking for snipe at Jerra I would sometimes clap my hands.  If there was any around the immediate surroundings they would either pop their heads up looking for what ever made the disturbance or would give an alarm call and leave that particular area quiet hurriedly. Usually the single clap won't alarm them all that much as the noise doesn't carry that far and after a short period duck down again. You'll be amazed how many there is at times hiding in the grass.
Cheers
