Cockatiels are certainly a candidate for a new Canberra regular bird
sp, and it's inconceivable wild birds haven't already visited us
often. However my observation of Cockatiels in the wild is that they
are not very often seen, and seen in low numbers when they are seen,
unless there are sources of grain about. (Those who went on the
Grey-headed Lapwing twitch will remember the 100s of birds around the
grain silos at Burren Junction).
I think that unless a flock could discover a source of grain like this
we are unlikely to see a resident population, as opposed to a few
pairs from time to time. That is, until the ACT climate becomes truly
arid.
