The Botanic Gardens Bookshop also has copies Ian McMahon -----Original Message----- From: martin butterfield Sent: Sat 17-Jan-09 5:47 PM To: COG List Cc: Subject: [canberrabirds] Book (novel) recommendation Rosemary Bell was recently kind enough to recommend to my attention "A Guide to the Birds of East Africa" by Nicholas Drayson. It is a novel based around birding activities in East Africa (or at least Kenya). I found it extremely enjoyable: many of the characters reminded me very much of some we met in Dar es Salaam and the birdnig elements quite accurate. It is available through the ACT Library Servce and I recommend it to any of you who enjoy reading light-hearted books about birding competitions and/or have an interest in East Africa. Martin |
