I basically agree with John about the pattern prior to 2000.
When I returned to Canberra in late 2003 I went to Warks Rd in Summer to see if bushfire regeneration was occurring. My memory is that there were at least 20 Flame Robins in a 1km stretch of road (whereas in the past they were up higher - Mg Aggie etc). I have continued to see flame robins on Warks Rd ever since.

When I arrived in Canberra in 1994 an started to go out birdwatching I
found that, as good rule of thumb, Scarlet Robins were lower down the
ranges, in the lower mountain forest, and Fame Robins were in the Snow
Gum woodland and alpine grassland in summer. And Scarlet Robins where
much more often encountered in summer, it was sometimes difficult to
find a Flame Robin.
In the 2000s I think I have noticed a trend towards Flame Robins being
found further down the ranges (for example in the past few weeks I
have seen them on Warks Road, Blundells Creek Road &c), and being more
numerous higher up. Nowadays it's Scarlet Robins that are difficult to
find in summer.
Has anyone else noticed this?
