I could only spot 3 Darter nests (1 with 2 DY, the others with birds ON) as I paddled my kayak along Black Mtn Peninsula on new years day, along with 3 Little Pied Cormorant nests. The big winner was 30+ Little Black Cormorant nests, either with DY or birds sitting. There may well be more, but as I did my count without binoculars and was more concerned with staying upright in the sometimes windy conditions I could have missed a few.

Martin, I finally got to check out the area between Tadorna and Fulica hides, no sign of any Spoonbill nesting activity. However in that area a couple of months ago I saw Currawongs severely harassing a Nankeen Night Heron, behaviour similar to that reported recently for Ravens vs Night Herons.

Cheers

Rod
