Just a comment on the photos. I always look at my email inbox on the website server before downloading the files onto my computer. I do this mainly to first admire (often) then delete, any with attachments that I don't need (eg bird photos) plus the unwanted rubbish. When I looked at this one, some appeared to have labels that were incorrect, although I don't see it in the email. It looked like some labels suggested they were Baillon's Crakes but I believe all three photos I looked at were clearly Australian Spotted Crakes. Apart from the general colouration, the white vent was clear in all 3 photos. No one else appears to have mentioned that.
