A mixed group of a dozen or so adults and begging young has been present around 5.45am to 7am each morning in Cook in a piece of remnant bush on the Dugdale Street Tipper Place junction and may be roosting there at night. Incidental observation of a pair of Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos ripping into hakea capsules and eating seeds in a Dugdale Street garden on 30.12.8. Muriel E

Hi Philip This could be because they have dispersed throughout Belconnen, especially Aranda, Cook and Macquarie. There were at least 23 in Lachlan St, Macquarie this morning. I hear them almost every day - 4 flew over just 5 minutes ago. A few days ago, I checked Macquarie Primary School to see if they roosted there at night as they did a couple of years ago, but there was no sign of any.
