Hi Graham,

It's possible it was a hand-raised bird, recently released by a wildlife carer.  I was just chatting to a woman last weekend about her 3 hand-raised wattlebirds, which she released a couple of months ago so maybe it was one of them?

As a side note, some COGgers have slower internet connections than others, so if you want to post any pics to the chat line, can you reduce the size and/or resolution to make sure that your file is not more than 100kB?  It can be frustrating to have a large file blocking your email downloads.

Cheers!
Beth

Hi all,

I was telling a friend about my recent quest to identify a bird call which
turned out to be that of a Red Wattlebird. When I described the bird, she
said that one such bird visited her family in their garden some time ago.
Apparently it flew in and landed on her shoulder. It also went to the
shoulder of her son (see attached photos).

Is this common behaviour for Wattlebirds or could this have been a
domesticated bird?

Graham
