Popped into Kellys Swamp for a while before the rain this afternoon.

2 Glossy Ibis as already noted by Martin

2 Aus Spotted Crakes in swampy vegetation in front of the bank next to Bittern hide

A sleepy looking Brushtailed Possum in a top corner of Ardea hide

At least 1 Cattle Egret with the cows in the paddock north of the carpark

2 juvenile crakes in Crake Alley. Still had quite a lot of down, and rudimentary wings with pin feathers showing. All dark except for a brownish tinge on the mantle. Legs, bill and eye looked dark grey or black. Never saw an adult bird with them but best fit in HANZAB is Spotless Crake. They were about half the size of an adult Spotless.

All three Royal Spoonbill nests with birds sitting tight. My attempts to see if there were any eggs failed, even with a scope

cheers

Steve
