The owlet- night jar is back in the same tree at Campbell Park, but
in a different hollow, one facing the gravel road leading to the
horse gate. It was not there when I first looked, but a minute or
two later, popped up, then quickly disappeared again
Not much joy on the nesting front, but
at least 2 juvenile orioles and a parent
at least 2 juvenile black faced cuckoo shrikes
2 wattle bird fledglings out of nest in a low bush, being fed by parent
leaden flycatcher on nest still (hatching a cuckoo?)
frogmouth juvenile just about as big as his mum
trillers
a couple of dusky wood swallows
pair of red rumped parrots
several noisey friar birds but none lead me to their nest
noisey miner nest quite low in eucalypt foliage, close to car park
grey fantails,1 white throated geregone, 1 willie wagtail, several
magpies (young that were in nest last week now out of nest, but there
are several old nests), fairy wrens, wee bills, yellow rumped
thornbills; but none obliging me by leading me to their nests
no sittellas, or jackie winters
Not a very interesting lot, but seeing the nightjar and the young
orioles was good. Not much help to jack. I look forward to what he
finds tomorrow with more pairs of eyes looking
Elizabeth
