I agree with Elizabeth.
When our walking group went through CB recently, we
were told that the old clumps of dead brushwood - maybe wild roses - were
especially left for the small animals and birds (I think I recall that this is
also left on the lower slopes of Mt Majura by the Friends who care for the
woodlands there).
So what may appear to be messy, and perhaps of
'exotics' origin still should be left there. One problem with having the old zoo
declared as part of the reserve will be to ensure that the enthusiastic
departmental lot don't clear all the brush away along with the
rubbish.
