Intermediate Egret and Whiskered Terns at Jerra Wetlands

Hi all,

Yesterday afternoon the Intermediate Egret was still at Jerrabomberra Wetlands, and showing well. Most of the time it was feeding very slowly and patiently, but occasionally it would stop to preen. I have attached two images, showing the plumage, especially the plumes (and slight crest sometimes). Most of the time the plumes were not so visible, and the beak appears a lot redder here because it is backlit by the sun.

Also at around 6.15pm a pair of Whiskered Terns (one non-breeding, one breeding) appeared and started flying over Kelly's Swamp.

Not much else was around, although there was a E Coot nest in the water in front of Bittern hide (the pair also gave me a show of their mating procedures). Also Royal Spoonbill hanging around, but rather little ducks on the main part of the swamp.
