Am just back from a few days spent at Mollymook on the NSW South Coast.
Didn't get much time for birding due to family commitments and a fair bit
of rain.
We did have a huge Blue-tongued Skink living under the house and great
views of the escarpment from the back verandah. Single WHITE-HEADED PIGEONS
were around the neighbourhood as well.
On Saturday I found a pair of HOODED PLOVERS at Dolphin Point along with a
single BAR-TAILED GODWIT and both oystercatcher species and a WHITE-NECKED
HERON at Milton. On Sunday at Narrawallee Inlet I watched an adult
WHITE-BELLIED SEA-EAGLE chase and attempt to catch a GREAT CORMORANT, which
was forced to dive underwater to escape the eagle's talons and a qucik
stroll along Millards Creek Walk produced two OLIVE-BACKED ORIOLES and
BROWN GERYGONES.
On Monday we drove home via Gerringong, Kiama, Jamberoo and in Budderoo
National Park at the Illawarra Fly Treetop Walk where several PILOTBIRDS
were calling. Also BLACK-FACED MONARCH along Jamberoo Mountain Road.
Cheers,
