Yes it was just a matter of time wasn't it. I had 11 swift parrots in the tree in my backyard again yesterday! It was very early in the morning and so I suspect (but can't be sure) that they roosted there! So they can still be found around the Mirning Cres, Barada and Ambara Pl area in Aranda.

With the massed flowering of the many Ironbarks around the streets of Aranda, I thought it was only a matter of time before Swift Parrots arrived to partake of the bounty. The main disincentive is the infestation of Red Wattlebirds, but today 2 Swift Parrots were heard and then seen being chased by said wattlebirds between the Ironbarks near the corner of Barada St and Marawa Pl before being hounded off further south.

I thought I heard Swift Parrots in the same place a week ago but there was only one call and many tall Ironbarks in which they could be. If they don't call they can be very hard to find in the dense foliage. Same goes for Regent Honeyeaters. And there are many potential feed trees through this part of Aranda.
