Ian Baird has emailed an observation of a
White-headed Pigeon in O’Connor (see email below) to Barbara and myself.
It would be interesting to get any further observations on this bird.

further observations
I have observed what looks like a White-headed
Pigeon again today at 15 Fairfax Street, O'Connor
presumably the same bird in similar circumstances. In the afternoon today at
about 4:00 pm I saw it flying briefly by in my front garden and then
later it was seen perched again later on the same horizontal power line
where it was observed the first time last Monday morning at 8:40 am,
23/6/08. It gave the impression it was preparing to roost
somewhere nearby. I was able to take digital photographs (8
in reasonable focus) this time, which fix the the time of the second
observation today at 4:47-4:51pm, 28/6/08. I
attach below two enlargements from the last photo taken, including an
enlargement of the head area of the bird from that photo, which shows
diagnostic features of a White-headed Pigeon. I am happy to
fill in another Unusual Bird Report form for these observations as well
and attach the digital photos. Would that be a good idea do you think?
