Subject: [canberrabirds] More miscellaneous observations

--- a flock of 105 + 10 corellas flew over my place in Narrabundah yesterday, this is the largest group I've seen.  There's never a day when I don't hear overflying corellas now.

--- A refurbished WT Eagle nest near Tharwa has fresh leaves and the remains of a carcass of probably rabbit in it, but no eggs or chicks.

--- Coming back from not actually seeing the fictional Pied Heron at Bega, we saw a very dark Brown Falcon hovering above the road for at least 30 seconds.  I thought this was interesting given the number of times I've heard that the only hovering raptors around here are kestrels and bs kites.  The more experienced birders were not so excited though, and I see even Pizzey says that they hover 'clumsily'.  I don't do videos but have posted an animation for anyone interested.  It does manage to convey something of the effort that must be required by an occasional hoverer.   http://www.flickr.com/photos/ozjulian/2603820686/
