The Rarities Panel members individually considered Roger’s photos and the consensus so far is that they are all Intermediate Egrets. Dick Schodde suggested the following reasons:

  • Longish, dagger-shaped bill
  • Extent of facial yellow
  • Lack of bump on head (characteristic of Cattle Egrets)
  • Soft parts fine for an IE in non-breeding condition.
