Sustainable Metropolitan Planning: An
Integrated

Given the near universally accepted need to reduce
energy use in our urban areas, a means of assessing the effect, on energy use,
of metropolitan planning policies is useful. Focusing on residential energy
use, and using Sydney's "City of Cities" policy as an anchoring example, I
will give a quick background on what we know, provide some broad details of
the approach taken, and show some preliminary results. If there is enough
time, I will talk in more detail about the residential choice model that is
integral to the overall
model.
