On Anzac Day pm the Apple Box woodlands (at 850m elevation east of Urila Rd and NW from Tinderry Creek) were full of White-naped Honeyeaters with groups of up to 25 Red Wattlebirds having a good feed before the next stage of their journey.

By the next afternoon they had nearly all gone. Then a strong wind came up to halt the process, but when it eased at 1600 hrs another 20+ contingent of RWs headed east and several small groups of WnHs went off along the Queanbeyan River in shorter bursts in a SE direction.

On Sunday pm when the temperature plummeted from 15C to 8C in a few seconds nothing was audible or moving - except me going home. The last of the migration?
