Good spotting Tobias. We're only about 400 m away and at 5:30 pm last night I heard a Restless Flycatcher call and then watched it jerkily fly away and behind a neighbour's house. Unfortunately it was into the sun and the light was poor, but your observation has now confirmed my sighting.

In over 30 years of living here I've only about 10 records of this species, most of them prefires in the horse paddocks bordering Chapman and usually during autumn/winter, though there have been a couple of sightings. Most recently round Xmas 2004 and New Year 2005 there was one that came flying in near sunset and roosted in a neighbour's garden for a number of nights, but apart from that only a few records post fires.
