Great find Dave. Interestingly this sp has never been recorded in the ACT as far as I am aware, we do get the very similar Dwyer’s Snake though. I think I remember Alison Rowell telling me she had found a Little Whip Snake near Queanbeyan once. In Ross Bennett’s ACT reptile book he mentions them as occurring around Bungendore, so they might turn up here. However, both they and Dwyer’s are very secretive little snakes, so seeing one is always exciting and requires a bit of luck and/or patience.

Cheers

While we're on non-birding creatures, for those interested, I uncovered a Little Whip Snake whilst digging this morning - a first for us here (in Wamboin). An exquisite little apparently nocturnal snake.

There's a photo here on my Flickr site: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kookr/2402484066/
