First
Golden Whistler for the year coincided with the lighting of the first fire
for the year on Sat! I never saw it but it was still around on
Sunday. And guess how I heard it - yes hanging the washing out.

Spent most of today working in the Holt backyard and my observations of
Yellow-faced Honeyeaters moving through parallels those of John Brannan, both
in size of groups and estimated total birds noted until about 1300 hours when
the movement petered out.
Also, a massed twitterati of some 20 House Sparrows alternating between a
neighbour's chicken run and nearby shrubbery – very active and extremely vocal
throughout most of the afternoon.
