The unfortunate English ‘Nankeen Kestrel’ also looks impregnable
now. For excellent reasons the 1978 recommendations wanted this to be ‘Australian
Kestrel’ but it was one of the 17 ‘unpopular’ recommended
names, along with the infamous ‘Maned Duck’, that were ‘changed
after survey’. g
