Egg-laying chooks

So I guess the question is, to what extent is the size of a chook egg the result of human fiddling around with genetics? 

 

Or to put it another way,

1. do Red Jungle Fowl have a similar sized egg to an Australorp; and/or
2. do they make the same ruckus when laying in the wild?
