‘Saga’ understates the length and complexity of this story.  Briefly, Harry the Street Peacock arrived some 14 years ago and, possibly the result of his absurdly optimistic braying, was joined last Christmas day by a plurality of free-flying peafowl.  These settled down to 2 females and an immature male.  A few weeks ago, Harry met his end, being deliberately run down.   Vivien Lightfoot wrote to the C/Times about this, saying that just that day – or the day before – she had videoed the unpredictable Harry consummating a relationship of at least several seconds with one of his female guests.  Vivien provided footage that showed Harry’s  shimmering train completely covering the target of his affections.  Who would have thought that Harry had it in him after all those years.  Therefore, there was some local speculation that Harry’s genes might just live on, and then came rumours of some tiny pealets around the corner in Wylie St.  Today the two females – like a mutually-supportive same-sex couple - arrived back at Harry’s former haunts with their small flock of young Harrys and Harriets
