Boobooks calling in Hughes

Between about 2.00am and 2.20 on Sunday morning I heard two boobooks dueting or duelling. They sounded as though they were in the southern section of the Federal Gold Course near Birdwood Street in Hughes.

I remember a talk that Jerry Olsen gave to COG a few years ago where he described the vocal interactions of male boobooks at the edges of their territories on Black Mountain. At that time I think he said that the female boobooks lived on Red Hill but that the males occupied territories in Aranda and Black Mountain.

Does anyone know if there has been a change to this pattern since the building of the Gungahlin Drive Extension? I understand that boobooks bred successfully on Farrer Ridge a couple of years ago.

Thanks
