While cycling between Uriarra Homestead and Uriarra Crossing this morning, a male brown songlark flew across the road only a few metres in front of us, singing while in flight, then sat on a fencepost about ten metres away for the best part of half a minute, uttering intermitent strange creaking metallic sounds. Unfortunately, when I dismounted from my bike to get out my camera, it flew away, so I didn’t manage to get a photo or record the song.
