OK having seen other's comments, here is another question.
What happens with baby cuckoos (non-passerines) being fostered by passerines. Do
they still do the same behaviour? That is the sort of question Geoffrey Clyde
would ask at a COG meeting and that Geoffrey Dabb might well have film of them
doing it or not. I don't recall having seen it.
Also thinking some more, having seen the inside of many
finches nests, I think that in the Australian finches, the adults don't remove
the chicks' droppings.
