Greetings all from the South Coast,

(In particular the Bateman's Bay and Surfside area were I live).

We are currently experiencing invasion of Topknot Pigeons atm. With flocks of 30-40 birds seen all along the coast. At my local patch, Cullendulla Creek, I've seen a flock of roughly 40ish birds roosting low (5-15 m of the ground) in Casuarinas (She-Oaks). The birds in general do not allow close approach, but I did manage to get within 10 meters of them today were I had excellent views for 30 minutes and got some decent photos. Also my parents have had the joy of a flock of 15 odd White-headed Pigeons visiting the balcony for seed earlier this month.

No sign of Square-tailed Kites here just yet (they were around this time last year though).

As for Koels in the ACT. I had one bird calling at 3 am near Fenner Hall on the 13th and the 14th.

Enjoy the rest of your summer,

Dimitris
