I have been away for the last couple of days to find all the
email correspondence concerning the Rarities policy and the Molonglo Valley
Appeal letter
From reading the correspondence it seems to me that there
has been some confusion creep in. At the committee meeting it was decided
to publish the policy on the web, in Gang-gang and in CBN. No one
objected but unfortunately Anthony was not at the meeting. It now appears
that there has been agreement to publish on the web and in Gang-gang only and
following Lia’s suggestion we advertise the presence of the policy on the
web at the end of each CBN Rarities listing. All of which seems to me to
be a good idea.
A very different matter concerns the draft list of unusual
birds which at this stage will, as requested by the Rarities panel, not be
published anywhere. I have asked Barbara to write a short paragraph for
Gang-gang informing readers of the draft list and inviting them to contact the
Rarities Panel Secretary (Barbara, pro tem) for a copy of the draft if they
wish to make any comments on the proposed list.
I am sure that by now it is too late to make decisions as to
whether the Molonglo Valley document or the Rarities Panel policy be published
in the November Gang-gang but whatever decision has been made I see no reason
why the unpublished document cannot be published in December.
