Mt Majura was very, very dry and the number of species of birds was way down.
My best birding was on the eastern side early in the morning. However the 24hr bike event is bound to have sent some birds off. A few adult White-winged Choughs were trying desperately to distract attention from 2 just out of the nest young as the bike riders 'flew' past.
I saw 3 speckled Warblers and a Leaden Flycatcher half way up and I did see 2 beautiful Rufus Fantails near the summit. They were in the Currajong and casuarinas on the western side.
A non birdo reported 2 small eagles that she often watches near the presently dry waterfall.
I did not get a sighting of them but other more frequent visitors might.
Cheers Julienne
