Attached is a photo I took of the Bar-tailed Godwit today using a
mobile phone through the eyepiece of a scope. Getting the sensor
in just the right place is challenging; as is trying to shade the
eyepiece and view the screen in full sunlight. (I've tried to do
this with my regular digital camera, but couldn't find the right
spot to get an image.)

With patience - and a cooperative bird - it's worth a try if you're
caught without your regular camera gear.
