Hi everyone
I have a couple of spare seats in my Toyota for the Blitz this
Saturday. I hope to leave fairly early and look at Blue Range Hut, Mt
Franklin and Ginini Flats. We could also survey some likely sites
in between. I would appreciate some help with the blitz.
I anticipate a morning’s work,
returning around 1 pm or so, depending on how much fun we are having.
Is anyone interested?

Subject: [canberrabirds] COG's
bird blitz this weekend
Just a reminder to all those who have signed up for
COG’s annual bird blitz that it is on this weekend, 27-28 October, when
we attempt to record all bird species present in the ACT. And, as Martin has
mentioned, for those heading into Namadgi NP, please be aware of other Park
users. As well as the cyclists, there will be scout groups and water
researchers in the Park. We have the ACT fairly well covered though additional
offers to survey would always be welcomed. There are a few grid cells in
Namadgi NP without coverage, and while most of the urban grid cells have at
least one surveyor, there are locations within some grids that have not been
specifically mentioned. Isaacs Ridge is one; the National Museum
site; the grassland reserves; Mt Ainslie summit; Cotter Rd. The final map of
“owned” grid cells will be provided to the webmaster late tomorrow
and will be available for viewing thereafter on the COG website
www.canberrabirds.org.au. So if you would like to be involved, consider
selecting one of the vacant cells to survey – although unannounced 2-ha
20-min surveys of your own back yard and environs, or the local park, or even
additional surveys of popular locations such as Newline would also be welcomed.
Do remember to send in your datasheets promptly to COG, PO Box 301, Civic Square 2608, or bring them to the
next COG meeting. There will be book prizes on offer and further prize offers
would be gladly accepted! Hopefully the weather will be kind to us this year. I
wish you all a successful and safe weekend’s birding. Cheers, Barbara
