For those looking hopefully, the
following might be some help. You need to look and relook at the target
area. For myself I’d only be likely to pick it up if it was moving,
which it might do perhaps 20% of the time. When still, its camouflage is
excellent. The below photo was at about 430pm yesterday from the bank to
the east of the Bittern hide with the equivalent of a 20x field in 50mm
photography terms. (Magnification makes no sense when the image is
reproduced) In the second photo the white rectangle is enhanced somewhat.
In recognition of Steve and Prue’s
effort, a special Diamond Rusk award is to be made.
Re the egret, in my later
conversation this morning with Ian we agreed it was the Great that had been
around for a few days, although on the smaller end of the scale and a bit
tricky for some reason.
