On Friday, September 28th, about midday we were at Dick's bridge on the corner of Old Forbes Road and Bimbi Road, just south of the Weddin Mountains. We saw hundreds of white browed and masked wood swallows, some soaring high some and some low in the very windy conditions. Others were perched on the branches of a gum tree. Many were singing. A few dusky wood swallows were about, but were not with the others.

On a quiet street in the town, my car was attacked by a pair of lapwings. I had only been driving slowly and I stopped. But I did not get out of the car--too dangerous!. It turned out that the adult birds were on one side of the road, and on the other side were 3 chicks. The parents kept calling and the chicks responded, dashing across the road in front of my car.

At a small picnic spot, close to town I saw apostle birds with a nest, a young one about to take off. It had gone 2 days later. Also, I think, blue faced honey eaters had a nest.
