I saw the platypus at Jerrabomberra wetlands
at lunchtime.
On the wooden walkway/bridge, if you look
West along the creek, it was in the water
about 20m along, next to a dead stick.
Rangers were mowing and bulldozing, and it
was windy, which made it hard to bird watch.
But saw fuscous, New Holland honeyeater juvenile, some welcome swallows
may be nesting under the boardwalk, lots of redbrows and reedwarblers, and some
grey fantails almost hit me. About 20 fairy martins, 10 tree martins, a
Horsfield’s bronze cuckoo was heard. I didn’t see any small crakes or rails.
