Good morning all, I am new to all this, so if I say something stupid just
correct me politely!
The attached photograph was taken last Wednesday 29th August at 11.18am in
my backyard in Calwell. I believe it to be an immature female Collard
Sparrowhawk. I believe the adult plumage is coming through on her lower
chest. The bird was about 35cm tall and was accompanied by a smaller bird
(around 30cm) - I only saw the second bird in flight, but it looked another
Collard Sparrowhawk. They flew off towards Tuggeranong Hill. Can anyone
confirm this siting for my inexperienced eye? Thanks. Forget filename as I
soon realised it couldn't be a grey Goshawk, because of its size and colour
of the eye among other things!
I intend to come to the meeting on the 12th - look forward to putting faces
to names - thanks for your patience in advance!
Roger Noel
