Hi John et al
Have you had any off-line responses to your query?
I have seen the birds and am in two minds as to whether they
are just dirty and/or unusually coloured sulphur-cresteds or some sort of
cross.
I can only ever find them early or late in the day and as yet
haven't got a decent picture.
That they are pinkish is fairly obvious in this pic which is
straight from the camera.
Related Question: In the flock of maybe 35
cockatoos were also 7 or 8 corellas,
which field-guide contains the secret to distinguishing a
little from a long-billed?

Yesterday afternoon my
wife and I were driving down Drake Brookman Drive Holt and stopped
to watch sulphur crested and both little and long billed corellas
feeding on the footpath where some one leaves food
out. There were two sulphur
crested there that at first we thought were just
dirty. They were however a very
light pink, darker that the corellas and one sulphur had a tinge of
red in its crest. Both had the yellow
under the wings and also on the cheeks once we looked closely but
the overall colour was pink. We thought
that there may have been a bit of interaction between the corellas
and sulphurs to produce off spring of a different
hue. Has any one seen this or
indeed the birds in question? | |
