Curiuos one Geoffrey (the plant I mean). It certainly looks like what
you're calling it (P. phylliraeoides). This is what I use for current
Aust plant names - http://www.anbg.gov.au/win/index.html. It is hosted
by the ANBG, but - and this is why I say 'curious' - it doesn't
recognise the name the gardens are using in this case....
Re the bird, I reckon it would try anything that looked invitingly
orange. (I can also report that to this human's palate, the fruit tastes
TERRIBLE.)
